Volunteer/Visitor Policy

The staff and students at College Park Elementary very much appreciate you donating your time and expertise.  We are deeply committed to providing the highest quality education in a safe and orderly environment.  Your support is vital to our success.  To maximize learning, minimize disruptions, and ensure the safety of our staff and students, we must know who is on our campus at all times.  Therefore, we ask that all volunteers and visitors adhere to the following policy.

Volunteers

All volunteers to our campus must first be properly screened.  This includes clearance through the Department of Justice and a current certificate (within the last 60 days) of being free of active tuberculosis.  To complete NMUSD’s Volunteer Registration Form, please visit:

 https://www.nmusd.us/secure/volunteers/register.aspx

Once all screening requirements are complete, we ask all volunteers to adhere to the following:

  1. Sign in and out in the front office and wear a volunteer badge at all times while on campus.  If you arrive before the bell rings, you are still required to sign in and obtain your badge.
  2. Proceed directly to the classroom (or other campus location) at your scheduled time.  Teachers and staff rely on your help, so please honor and maintain your prearranged schedule.
  3. To ensure safety and protect privacy, taking pictures or videos anywhere on school grounds is strictly prohibited.  Photos of your child during award ceremonies or performances represent the only exception.
  4. When you are finished, please proceed directly to the front office, sign out, and return your badge.
  5. We ask that the focus remain on supporting teachers and staff, so please silence your phones and refrain from taking calls or visiting with other volunteers.
  6. Please do not bring small children to campus while you are volunteering.
  7. Out of respect for our students and their families, please maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to student learning.  Any information with regards to student learning must not be discussed with anyone other than the classroom teacher.

Visitors

All visitors to our campus are asked to adhere to the following:

  1. Visits to the classroom or conferences with the teacher must be arranged ahead of time.  This will minimize disruptions and provide you with a focused visit with the teacher.
  2. During school hours, all visitors must sign in and out in the front office.  Visitors must also wear a visitor badge at all times.
  3. If you visit to share a meal with your child, please remain at the lunch benches.  For reasons of safety and liability, Running Club is the only time we can allow parents on the playground or field.

If you are visiting during a special event (Friday flag deck, performances, etc.), you may proceed directly to the event.  Signing in and obtaining a badge are not necessary, but we ask that you exit campus once the event concludes.  To remain on campus, you must sign in with the front office and obtain a badge.
